BERLIN: You're missing out on a weekend in Berlin...
Missing out on sleep on a weekend in Berlin
I recently visited Berlin for the first time and can definitely say that I’ve been missing out on one of the most fun cities in Europe. Great food, bars, clubs, art, and people!
I have some friends who live or have lived in Berlin so we had a long list of spots we wanted to check off. Here is my list of spots (starting with my favorite):
Schmittz
Frieda
Remi
Annelies
Kink
Neue Odessa
And when I go back this is how I will spend my weekend:
FRIDAY
MICHELBERGER HOTEL
WARSCHAUER STRAßE 39–40, 10243 BERLIN
What to expect: Priceworthy, playful, quirky, adult cubby houses.
Check-in at the very unique Berlinesk hotel Muchelberger. Here you can either bunk it up with your friends or get a room with a personal sauna.
REMI
TORSTRAßE 48, 10119 BERLIN
What to expect: Seasonal and regional produce, buzzy, art gallery vibes.
Every dish at Remi was exceptional. Our server let us know that she had brought back zucchini seeds from Mexico that were now a part of our salad and that the chicken we were eating had lived a great life on a farm nearby in Brandenburg.
SCHMITTZ
GORMANNSTRAßE 19, 10119 BERLIN
What to expect: Dive bar, graffiti walls, €2 beers & mexikaner shots
Schmittz ❤️ A pretty shitty bar tbh but we ended up going here every night because we had the best time. This is where we were introduced to the mexikaner shot, which basically is a bloody mary shot that you can buy a full bottle of.
Across the street is Neue Odessa Bar which is a more fancy cocktail bar with good music.
SATURDAY
CAFÉ FRIEDA
LYCHENER STR 37, 10437 BERLIN
What to expect: Natural wine, unique (and a bit overpriced) dishes, trendy.
Frieda is the spot you either go to for a great coffee and pastry from their bakery or for natural wines and interesting (very yummy) food.
If you love cute bookshops as I do, after lunch, stroll past Do you read me!?
KINK
SCHÖNHAUSER ALLEE 176, 10119 BERLIN
What to expect: Loungey, modern, great drinks, music & service.
You’ll find Kink located in a courtyard, surrounded by fun bars and restaurants. The place itself is beautiful and very modern. Rather than having a wine paired with each dish, Kink has a cocktail pairing (we were not super impressed by our drinks that were a bit too complex, maybe it takes an acquired taste… We’ll stick to the bloody mary shots next time). We had dinner in the dining room and went over to the adjoining bar for a drink after.
SUNDAY
ANNELIES
GÖRLITZER STR. 68, 10997 BERLIN
What to expect: Creative dishes, great brunch & coffee.
Annelies was one of our favorite spots for brunch. The food was great, the drinks were great, the coffee was great and they have a nice outdoor dining area. Apparently, it’s located by one of the more dangerous parks in Berlin (or at least our server told us not to go here by night).

Berlin has so many great second-hand shops and on Sundays, there are two big flea markets that I was recommended. One in Mauerpark and one in Arkonaplatz.
If you feel like missing out on sleep, these clubs are a few we got recommended: Wilde Renate, Urban Spree, Kit Kat, and of course Berghain.
Next: You don’t want to miss out on a Sunday in London…
